GM and Chysler already have the hybrid drivetrain technology to build trucks. Back a few years ago, GM, Daimler-Chrysler (back once the two companies were still merged) and BMW all joined forces to develop the 2-Mode hybrid transmission, and it is used in production cars. It took 2 years to develop the 2-mode system.
G put the 2-mode system within its Tahoe Interbred, Yukon Hybrid and Scaling Hybrids. Chrysler put it in its Poplar Hybrid (which they stopped building two months ago because it wasn’t selling well). Daimler/Mercedes Benz is going to put the 2-mode within associate coming car, but hasn’t made any announcements. And BMW will glucinium putting the 2-mode system within its upcoming X6 ActiveHybrid SUV.
